About Broken Forest

'The earth has music for those who listen'
G. Santayana

A truly organic breath of fresh air - Broken Forest is the inventive work of writer, singer and producer Luise London. Since she was a young child, Luise has had a great passion for nature and its connection to our lives and minds. These and other heartfelt messages are delicately translated into Broken Forest’s music, with sweet vocals hanging over a mesmerising blend of Atmospheric Pop and organic Electronica.

Nature sounds are purposefully embedded into ambient synths and guitar effects. The sometimes harsh and coldness of modern urban life meets the sensibility and beauty of nature. The music is inspired by a variety of different genres from traditional Folk from the British isles, to Pop and Trip- Hop, and artists such as Bon Iver, Björk or Kate Bush. The lyrics are filled with strong images representing the story, often generated through traditional tales Luise used to read as a child, combined with the struggles of today’s society through her sometimes dark, but romantic view on life.

‘Her debut single is a real head-turner, A trip-hoppy slice of pop-tronica, if you will, it sounds like Grimes getting down and carefree with nature and bodes very well for her future ascendancy.’ The Crack Magazine

‚Broken Forest’s” Wild At Heart“ is catchy, electronically chugging, far resonating, playful, vocally balanced, spiritual, folky and multifaceted at the same time. Five more little masterpieces’ – Märkische Allgemeine

‚Luise has a unique take on songwriting and bringing these alive in her productions, combined with a voice that can capture the small and big audiences alike. It has been a pleasure to work with her, can’t wait to hear more of her music.’ – Jon Boden, UK Folk Artist

In 2017 the story of Broken Forest began with the release of her self-produced EP ‚Lost in Fairy Tales‘.

Lead singles ‚Winter‘ and ‚Peter‘ were not only played on independent radio stations across the UK but also received celebratory press mentions from Crack Magazine amongst others. This has earned her performances with the band Daughter and at the PRS event ‚Finding the Female Headliner‘ alongside Annabel Allum and Nova Twins.

This was followed by live shows in Milan, Italy, exciting German and UK festival appearances such as Boomtown Fair and Magical Festival and joint UK and German tour dates with No King No Crown from Dresden, in 2019.

The same year Luise released a Live EP via AWAL, recorded at the Old Church, Stoke Newington, London, as well as the single ‚Ghosts in the Dark‘, which was voted Song of the Day by Folk Radio. During the pandemic Luise relocated to Leipzig where she released a heart warming Yule inspired single ‚Stories Under the Pine Tree‘ beginning to win over the hearts of the German audience too.

Most recently Broken Forest has released her second studio EP ‘Wild At Heart’, supported by Initiative Musik, featuring songs that celebrate the beauty around us, reconnecting with the rhythm of nature and through that reconnecting with yourself and finding your own inner strength to take on life’s challenges.

The first single of the record ‚Mother‘ received its radio debut on Chris Hawkins’s show on BBC Radio 6 with high praises, as well as spins on MDR Kultur Radio and NDR, alongside the single ‚Out Into The Wild‘, which was created in collaboration with the Dresden indie-folk band No King No Crown.

Now Luise has begun the work on her debut album, which is going to be an album of the special kind, with exciting collaborations lined up including UK artist Chinwe and film team Creative Lions. Earlier this year Luise was awarded for her debut album’s concept in the category of International Collaborations by Kreatives Sachsen, which gave the initial funding and industry recognition towards the record.
